With the new page up and running, maybe it is a good time to start up the Edit This page again. Give it a month and see what happens. For anyone new to this forum the idea is to copy the photo attached to this message and edit it using your choice of software to make it a better or more interesting photo. No prizes except for the honour of posting a new image in July. I will be judging this at the end of June.

I will try to up load - not for working on just to see how it goes! Starts as a fraction under 3meg and ended up at 449.50 when this site compressed it and uploaded it - useless for what we want! When I then "save pic as".. it ends up as 87.9K on my photoshop. Don't see this working in any way! Also what you see is what you get - ie cant click and enlarge! Cant see this as a working stite as is!

I clicked on your photo and it gave me an enlarged view of the photo. I then downloaded the test photo and mucked around with it in Photoshop and reposted it. Everything was fine. I also checked the photo I posted and it was fine in Photoshop too. Something weird is going on because the site works fine for me. Don't know.

I did as Sandra said and clicked on the photo before downloading it. Worked okay for me too.
Did you type the text in first and then upload? Once the photo was in, I couldn't get under it to add text.

Hey Col This reminds me of what we used to do, took quite a while to remember though! I clicked on the pic, came to the big size, right clicked on it, selected "save as" and in the new window that opened I finally found where I wanted to save it to - my pictures - but on my new computer the location is hidden away on another drive. Anyway, saved it there, opened it with PS (another right click), then did what I wanted, and applied one of those new Nik filters, and saved as something else, as a Jpeg. The problem is that appears as a blank bit of paper, PS won't let me save as a Jpeg, only a PSD file. I'll try and post the PSD but it is big, even though the actual pic is only about a megabite or so. Nope, can't upload, file too big. I always can save to Jpeg with PS, not with this. Any ideas?

Col, after more mucking about, I just saved your original one, not as a "save as" but a "save". However, I now don't have your original one to work on for another attempt, as it is the new one I changed it to. Hardly good enough, can't trust PS!!!!!! How do you keep the same font, size and colour for every post???

No idea! I only just realised you can do it. I need to explore this a bit more.
No idea what is happening with PS. I use PS Elements. I resize the photo down to 1500 on the longest side and click on Save for Web. It automatically converts it into a Jpeg. When I close the original file I click don't save OR I change it to "Original file-1" before I start to edit or, if I forget, before I save. One of the reasons I like Lightroom and the other software is it automatically changes the name of the file to "Original Name-edit" so the original is preserved.
If you want to re edit just copy the original again and save it under a new name.

I have the hang of it now ! I suffer badly from "old timers" I think - yes its like the old site. Peter dont see how to save your font choice but I guess its only a couple of clicks each time, however don't type your comment then add a smiley face or all your typing goes away and you have to start again!!!! lol oh and watch where your cursor is before you post the photo !!!
Here's my edit by the way! (the shell had pups!!!)

Peter I dont know what your problem is with photoshop, I just dont have problems? What version you using - I have the cloud one that I renew every year but I used to use CS 2 and then CS3 and dont see a great difference with these sort of moves. On this edit I clicked to get the bigger picture then right clicked and chose "save as" then selected where to save the photo (in my set files of photos) renamed it (but didnt need to just chose to). Went to Bridge and selected it to open in PS (you could just go to the file within PS also of course). Edited away to my hearts content, flattened the layers then did "save as" again - put it in the file I chose and made sure the file extension was jpeg. If you are only given PSD option that means the layers need to be flattened usually. I dont mean to try to "teach you how to suck eggs" so to speak but just wondered if you follow these steps I guess. I looked in my preferences but there didnt seem to be any help there.
