For our July challenge, any wild creature, worm or bird, rabbit or kangaroo, that lives/roams nearby. Might be your backyard, garden or local park or beach. Let's go hunting!

These were taken down at the park/lake 5 min walk from home! Something I've been trying to do more of lately so great challenge for me. First one is definitely wild (especially the hair)

I have a crested hawk hanging around our yard a bit ( not sure of its correct name. See photo. Not mine. I think it is called a basta. I use a similar name when it flies off). Apparently they only hunt insects so I am happy to have it around. I really want to get a photo of it BUT when I have the camera it doesn't show If I do not have the camera it will wait until I come out with the camera and fly off. It isn't shy. It will sit on a branch or the fence or clothes line while you are in the yard. It is so frustrating. And it happens so often. Why is it wildlife is always there for the perfect photo until you produce a camera?

It's like the dog - get the camera out and he turns his face away. Turn the camera away, and he looks.
PS it is a fine photo of your "basta"
