Hi to old, and hopefully new, friends.
As Col said, this has been done before in the old forum of which I have been a member for 4 years. I am a retired primary schoolteacher and always had an interest in photography from about a 12 yo and worked weekends and holidays to buy my first camera, a Minolta A3 film camera. Now it is a Canon 60D with a Tamron 16-300mm lens. I take mostly landscapes. and seem to be attracted to water.
The PhotoArt Forum is a great place to meet like-minded people from all over Australia, and the world. It makes you get off your bottom and look around for specific photo opportunities, and to showcase some of your older shots. I classify myself as a "happysnapper", and take a lot!
However, I do try to compose my shots and think about the light, my depth of field, focus point, etc, in most shots. Sometimes it works!
The change from film to digital is so powerful, and what you can do in different software is amazing. I sometimes play around a little with it, but most of my shots (in RAW) are just changed to Jpeg for showing with the minimum of fuss.
All the categories here are worth joining, especially the Landscape Land one ( which I just happen to run).
Hopefully we will see a lot more names here.
Cheers, Peter.
